Soul Christmas is one of the most important events of the Christmas in Umbria's calendar. It is the Christmas edition of the more famous summer Trasimeno Blues Festival. It is considered as one of the most noted musical events dedicated to Gospel in Italy, taking into consideration that, from Christmas to Epiphany, the best Gospel groups that circulate in Europe arrive at the Lake Trasimeno to give life to a real “festival of emotions”.
Part of the success of this event is the special nature of Gospel, which more than any music conveys the spirituality and values of Christmas. It is even more powerful if you consider that Soul Christmas is interpreted by the best of Afro-American voices. The concerts are free and are performed in the churches and in the theatres of the loveliest of the local villages. It permits the visitor to listen to the music and at the same time enjoy the surrounding beauty of the architecture, culture, history and nature. It begins every year on December 8, and then from December 25 to January 6 every evening the Trasimeno villages are coloured with great music that originates in the soul. New Year's night is celebrated on the piazza with a special concert to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
