There’s an unusual, authentic side of Umbria that begins just beyond the lake: Otricoli is an unexpected stop between Lake Trasimeno and Rome, among gentle hills, olive
groves and vineyards, with the evocative landscapes of the Tiber Valley.
Here you can stroll along the walls of what once was the Castle of Otricoli, visit the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta, and descend into the ancient history of its underground spaces.
By the river lies Ocriculum, a remarkable archaeological area still visited in the spirit of the Grand Tour: an amphitheatre, theatre, baths, mausoleums, and the ancient river port on the Tiber.
Then comes taste: wineries and wine-tasting experiences, traditional restaurants,
EVO olive oil and slow-travel landscapes—especially during the key annual events: Ocriculum AD 168 (late May), the Poggio di Otricoli Medieval Days (mid-July) and VinOtricolando (early August).
For those who love the outdoors:  hiking, cycling, e-bike, horseback routes… and much more.
