If Pietro Vannucci, Il Perugino, the most illustrious son of Città della Pieve, excelled in painting frescoes, the Pievesi distinguish themselves in the creation of multi-coloured carpets made using flower petals to celebrate Saint Luigi Gonzaga and the Corpus Domini. All through the night of 21 June, the town’s citizens cover the streets of the old town centre with 900 m2 of gorgeous floral carpets with beautiful intricate designs.
